My Best Friend wants to be your Best Friend

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
Revelation 3:20

Sup means to eat the main or evening meal
Of course here the meaning takes on more than dining.  After a day's work, Jesus wants to come in to the home of His friend and spend an enjoyable time.

He never forsakes His Friends

"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."
Proverbs 18:24

Jesus wants to be a friend, so, He shows Himself friendly.
He is a friend who never stops trying to be friendly.  He is even closer than a brother or sister.

"He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
Hebrews 13:5

Not only is He close, but He is a faithful friend
Jesus never leaves.  Sometimes His friends leave Him, but He is always ready for them to repent and come back.

He knows the heart of His Friends

"... is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12

Jesus knows the real intentions of His friends
He even has provided the Bible to His friends for them to use to know their own hearts. (The rest of Hebrews 4:12)

"... the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
1 Samuel 16:7

Jesus is not like an ordinary friend
Everyone else sees your outward appearance and actions, Jesus sees how you really are, how you really feel.

He forgives His Friends

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness."
1 John 1.9

Jesus listens and understands
He forgives His friends who have a contrite heart.

He pays the debts of His Friends

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust (His friends), that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened (made alive) by the Spirit"
1 Peter 3:18

Jesus has paid the debt of sin for His friends
Having died for the sin of His friends, Jesus brings us to the Father for eternal life.

He gives life to His Friends

"The thief (the devil and his friends) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they (His friends) might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
John 10:10

Jesus' friends are those who trust in Him as Saviour
He comes to each person to offer eternal life in heaven and a victorious life on earth.

"The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."
Psalms 121.8

He is inseparable from His friends

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:38-39

There is nothing that can keep Jesus from His friends
Nothing in this world
Nothing in the next
Nothing
No One

He wants to keep His friends from peril

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Romans 10:9-10

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
John 5:24

"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
John 3:17
