Prior to Salvation
Being good, going to church, obey the commandment, etc, was my way of life before I was saved.

Saved
When I was in elementary school, missionaries came to our school and taught us about the Bible and gave us lessons (Source of Light) to answer.  While going through all of these lessons I came across a question that caught my attention. It said, "Are you going to heaven when you die?"  Because I was not sure of my belief, I answered "No".   Then one young lady ushered me into the church and shared with me about God's free gift of eternal life and God's love by giving his only son to die for my sin. It was November 12, 1988 when I decided to receive Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord.

Church Work
After that I joined and attended the "Early Bird" Sunday School and I was being taught about Baptism. The following year I was baptized on December 17, 1989.  That began my involvement in the activities of the church.

I joined the choir, Saturday visitation and even everyday visitation during the summer. Though busy with my schooling I had the eagerness to be a part of every activity of the church.

Crossroads
My father decided that he wanted me to go to college rather than be so involved with the church.  He said that I could serve the Lord after graduating.  This would mean moving to another town and not being able to attend the church very often. I did not want to stop going to church so what I did was go to school and also go to my church.  This made me sad and tired so I sat with the Lord and asked Him His will and I came to the decision of serving Him.

Hard Times
In June 1992 I enrolled in the Bible school while working as a volunteer staff.  This was a time of persecution for me as I was not receiving any salary and my father blamed me for my decision. However, because of God's love and faithfulness, I was able to continue on and survive.

God's Will
When I graduated from Bible school in June 1994, my father finally agreed that it was God's will for me to serve Him. I continued to serve him on staff at the church, as Sunday school teacher, extension class teacher, visitation, etc.

Missions
Then in late 1995 at our Mission conference I surrendered my life to be a missionary although I did not know where God wanted me to serve Him. I prayed about it and continued on with my work. In March 1996 the Lord gave me a lady companion who wanted to be a missionary to the Cagayan Valley, Philippines.  We were asked by our local Pastor to be home missionaries, working in Laoag City and gaining experience while they were on furlough.  Then in December we would go to Cagayan Valley and survey the area.  In the month of May my companion stopped and I continued on alone while waiting for the Pastor and family to return from furlough.

Married and off to Cambodia
In January 1997 I was married to Edgar Leoneric Asuncion, the following month we attended a world mission's conference at Northside Bible Baptist church my husband surrendered his life to go to Cambodia that same night he told me about it. It was a great joy for me that I can be used of him and be a part in the ministry that God called us for I know this was the answer to my prayer when I surrendered myself to be used by him.
