What is the Problem with sin?
Sin is the Great Dilemma for all of mankind.

Sin is real.

1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:10
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Sin is universal.

Rom 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Sin is a huge problem.

Mat 22:37
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38
This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Sin has consequences

No rest from sin's contamination

Isa 57:20
But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

No peace with the wickedness of sin

Isa 57:21
There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Continuation under the wrath of God

John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Continuation under the condemnation of God

John 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Sin's debt is death of the body and eternal death of the soul

Rom 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sin is the object of vengeance

2 Th 1:7
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
2 Th 1:8
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Th 1:9
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Sin keeps from the Saviour of eternal death

John 8:24
ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he (The Saviour), ye shall die in your sins.

Sin assigns to the Lake of Fire

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

God's answer to sin

God's love sent Jesus

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God's love sent The Saviour to die in the place of sinners.

Rom 5:6
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Rom 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God's love put your sin on The Saviour

Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray (into sin); we have turned every one to his own way (away from God); and the Lord hath laid on him (Jesus) the iniquity (sin) of us all.

God's love sent His Son to die for sin

1 Pet 1:18-19
redeemed (bought out of sin) ... with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (no sin or results of sin)
