The Problem
There is always a problem with those making a profession and wanting to stay in their previous church. Once they are invited to your church and they say they already have one, the dye is usually cast. But if you bring it up before they own up to having a church, then they are not as apt to feel they must defend this statement in further conversation.

Here is what I like to do
After praying and completing the Decision Card, I ask,

"Do you go to church occasionally?"
"Do you go to church sometimes?"

I use the word "occasionally" or "sometimes" for several reasons:
* to have them agree that they do not go often, therefore not committed, without telling them or even implying, they are religiously sub-par
* to give them something to hang on to (later I will take it away)
* to make the point that they probably do not have a church

When they agree, that they do attend occasionally, I say this:

"Now I am not trying to say anything bad about anyone's church, but I wonder why it is that your church has never told you how to be saved? (do not let them speak, they may try to defend, go right into the following...) I don't know either, but I do know this, that if you got the changed heart a few minutes ago, you know it is true, and if true, you will want to know more, so you can tell your family and friends."

They will usually agree.
