Soul Winning is God's Plan

God has a plan for everyone, everywhere to be saved from punishment for sin.

The plan includes:
* The Birth, Death, Resurrection and Return of Jesus Christ.
* The presentation of Jesus Christ as Saviour from sin.
* Each individual's accepting of Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
* The changed heart God creates at the New Birth into the family of God.
* The Follow-up for discipleship so the Born Again person can grow in knowledge of Jesus Christ.
  - including Bible use
  - prayer life
  - Baptism
  - church membership
  - church participation
  - training to develop soul winning skills

The plan is Good News:
* Good news to the lost who are missing something in their lives, but are blind to their need and Saviour
* Good news to the saved who love to hear it over and over and tell the lost about it

Soul Winning is Urgent Business

The business of taking the Soul Winning Plan to the Lost is urgent because people die every second.

Many believe that who ever is going to get saved, will get saved and vice versa.  This is the doctrine of the lazy and slothful saints.  It is a result of Revival that has run its course and slipped into Backslidding.  When God's people want an excuse not to be involved in Winning the lost, they recite the above "Damaged Dogma".

It is God's desire that none should be lost, but everyone has a Free Will and God will respects that. He does not make people do what they do not want to do, but He does influence for good.

His method of influence is love.  It is always appropriate to love.  Love God and your neighbor as your self.  It is never appropriate to trick or make people do things against their will.

Since everyone has a Free Will, they must be influenced to accept Christ as their Saviour.  Hearts are not always open to input like this, so love is applied.  When the heart opens and receives the Good News, a seed is planted.  God can use this opening for more love from Him and others, hence watered.  Finally, when the person sees himself as a lost sinner and deserving of eternal punishment and sees Christ as their Saviour and accepts Him into their life, they are harvested, Won.

If the lost person procrastinates or remains prideful or slothful towards Jesus and dies, they are forever lost. 

Soul Winners must use urgency to take the Good News in love to everyone, anyone or someone.

Soul Winning is for Everyone

Every saint is mandated to be involved in Soul Winning. 
Go into all the world with the message of Jesus Christ is Saviour.

Since God does not have the hands, feet and lips to take the Gospel to the lost and He does not violate their Free Will, He expects to use those already saved.  Who know the joy of being in Christ, changed, Born Again.

Every opportunity is appropriate. 
Some want to relegate soul winning to church services.  But many will not come to church because of reasons or excuses the devil has supplied.  Church services are for growing the saints, because they are mainly attended by the saints.  This leaves soul winning for everywhere else.  We like to go to public events because everybody is there and hearts are generally open to input.

Every lost person is a prospect
Some excuse themselves by saying, "I may make someone angry or drive them away from salvation."

God has made it plain to me that He hardens the hearts of those who want it hardened and he softens the heart of those who want it softened.  Everyone is in one camp or the other, so everyone is a prospect.  Of course, we can not be foolish in our soul winning and temp others to hardened their hearts.

God will use the least effort done in love, to help the lost come to Jesus as Saviour.  Give Him your best and frequently.

"What if they are already saved?"

Doubtless many, but not most, are saved.  But how do any of know who is and is not?  So we should tell everyone.  Those who are not saved, need desperately to hear.  Those already saved, love to hear it over and over.  Everyone is truly a prospect, not to be saved so much, but to hear the Gospel, Good News.  Besides, God does the saving.  Only He knows who needs what, when, and how much.  Lets be in the business of telling everyone.

Soul Winning is for Public and Private

Some suggest, "The condition of my soul is a private matter."

This is a true statement. 
As Soul Winners we should never dig into the sins of others, nor dissect their good deeds.  Everyone should deal with God personally, because knows each of us personally.  Let him delve into the depths of the soul.

But, as Soul Winners, we must be vocal and graphic about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We are the bearers of Good News, not the bearers of accusations, public or private.

Others relate, "Soul Winners should not tell people they are sinners, that is a private matter."

Of course this is ridiculous. 
There is hardly a soul on the planet who is not aware of their sinful nature.  When someone is told they are a sinner, this is not a great uncovering of their heart's condition, but a simple statement every person must face.

The Soul Winner serves best when he or she puts it this way, "You know you are a sinner, face your sin.  But there is no need in you and I to discuss each individual one you have."

Private Soul Winning is good, but it is neither better nor worse that public evangelism.

Lets get out of the closet and into the streets with salvation.  The best of places to win the lost is where many people, from all areas of society, congregate with open hearts. 

We have found that Fairs and Festivals serve very well. 
* People come to you, on your turf, under your rules.
* People are open.  They have come to see something new, walking around with "Show me!" almost on their lips. They feel secure in a public environment (thinking: "If this guy tries to pull something, everyone will see him").
* People come from "both sides of the tracks", from every degree of education, from all the local cultures.

Soul Winning is a Skill, not a Talent

A talent arrives at birth
There is no need for talent in Soul Winning. If it took talent, only the gifted could take part.  But God expects all to be involved.

Skills are acquired through character
Soul Winning can be done and is done without skills.  Anyone, anytime can plant a seed, even without the intent.  But Soul Winning is done best, when the Soul Winner has acquired some skills.  Also, the potential Soul Winner may be fearful.  The acquisition of skill brings with it: confidence, boldness and effectiveness; all of which, drives away fear.  Therefore Soul Winners should be in the training business.  Winning the lost, of course, but schooling others to do the same.

Training is the huge by-product.
Public events offer a great advantage for training.  People come in such large numbers, that the trainee gets lots of occasions to ply his or her skills or acquire them.

The wise pastor schedules 3 to 6 public events per year, even if most must be out of town.  Some have a public booth every week at local Flea Markets, Trade Days, Mercados, Open Air Markets, etc.

Public events are where Tract Ministries are started. People learn how to distribute tracts with proficiency under the guidance of those possessing the skills.

Public events are where apprentices become journeyman, novices become experts.

Many churches send one or more teams to Nursing Homes every week, and they should.  But the Nursing Home clientele hardly ever follow the team members back to the church.  Nothing wrong with that.  Those workers are growing up in Christ.  Ministering to needy people, but are afforded few opportunities for presenting the Gospel, one on one.

Public events on the other hand, offer multitudes of occasions to present the Gospel, offering chances to guide trainees in Soul Winning skills.  Still, very few will follow these workers back to the church, but the church is strengthen in the area of Soul Winning and these same workers build confidence, boldness and effectiveness in dealing with their Friends, Relatives, Neighbors, Workmates and Schoolmates.  These people are the very best prospects for membership, so say every pastor of successful churches.
